Two scholarship recipients are selected at each of the 20 participating universities. One undergraduate scholarship, valued at $80, 000, is designated for a student pursuing a degree in an engineering program. The second undergraduate scholarship, valued at $60, 000, is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in a non-engineering based science, technology or mathematics program.
“We are creating the next generation of technology innovators, ” said Schulich. “A scholarship of this size will motivate high school students from across the country to pursue their dream and in the process help to ensure our country’s economic competitiveness.”
Schulich Leader Scholarships accept applications from every high school, secondary school and Cégep across Canada who can produce one candidate that demonstrates at least two of the following attributes: academic excellence, outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership and financial need. Students can apply to become Nominees to compete for the 2015 Schulich Leader Scholarships starting October 1st, 2014.
Created in 2011 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Seymour Schulich, Schulich Leader Scholarships are 75 undergraduate scholarships awarded annually to students pursuing undergraduate studies in STEM subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This $100 million endowment fund is creating the next generation of technology innovators in Canada and Israel. Schulich Leader Scholarships are fully funded by The Schulich Foundation. The administration of the program is a function of the Jewish Foundation of UJA Federation of Greater Toronto.
