Nordstrom (JWN) had its largest one-day drop in two years when it reported weak same store sales in a tough retail environment in which competitors are using promotions. The stock fell 5.21% to trade at $65.11.

Apache (APA) has made a the biggest oil discovery in Australia in 30 years. There may be as much as 300 million barrels of crude oil in the find which is off the coast of Western Australia. This is a boon to Apache whose stock rose 2% on the news.
