Medigus’ main business is developing minimally invasive endosurgical tools. Following development of its innovative trans-oral surgical system for the treatment of GERD without making any incisions, the company said that it is expanding to fully utilize its technological capabilities.

Medigus camera division’s lead product is micro ScoutCam 1.2, a proprietary 1.2mm diameter waterproof CMOS video camera that can be used in extreme environments and is the smallest such camera in the world. micro ScoutCam 1.2 can reach places where existing cameras cannot. With capabilities ranging from going into a vessel or a coronary stent to a refueling mission in space, it opens up new possibilities across medical and industrial applications for Medigus and its partners looking to incorporate the latest advancement in visual technology.

Micro ScoutCam 1.2 delivers remarkable image quality and boasts state of the art optics featuring an exclusive 5-lens objective and a proprietary CMOS sensor that are designed specifically for miniature dimensions. It was developed in accordance with the IEC 60601 medical standards (a series of technical standards for the safety and effectiveness of medical electrical equipment) and combines superb sensitivity and versatility to provide an up close view from a distance of up to 50mm (2 inches) away from the video camera head.

“Our micro camera business is very promising, with micro ScoutCam 1.2 expected to be the primary driver for this division. Companies are now able to incorporate our micro camera technology, therefore providing them with a plethora of new potential applications that have even yet to be developed, ” said Medigus CEO Chris Rowland.

The Medigus camera division will be led by Yaron Silberman, PhD, VP Sales & Marketing, who has an extensive background in the high-tech medical device industry. In this role, he will lead the strategy and business development of the Medigus micro camera business.
