Noah Wyle’s character is a librarian who protects a secret collection of artifacts. David Titcher wrote and created the original movie, “Quest for the Spear, ” that all the sequels are based on. Flynn Carsen is hired by the Metropolitan Public Library as a librarian. He discovers that the library has existed for centuries and protects a range of historical and even magical items in a secret section. Those objects include The Ark of the Covenant, Pandora’s box, and Excalibur. When part of the Spear of Destiny is stolen from the library, Flynn must recover it.

The new series cast features Rebecca Romijn, Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin (both appeared in the original), John Larroquette, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth and Matt Frewer.

It’s like the 1980s never ended.

Universal Networks International announced Wednesday that “The Librarians” is coming to Universal Channel in over 100 countries, debuting within 24 hours of the U.S. premiere on TNT, this December. Universal Channel viewers in Australia, Asia, Europe and Latin America will receive the new series in synch with the U.S. premiere.
