Bloodbath at SNL: Lorne Michaels Looking for Fresh faces

Lorne Michaels

Saturday Night Live eternal boss Lorne Michaels is reportedly heading west to scout for new talent for the Fall season. And meanwhile, most of the current cast is no more.

Brooks Whelan, who joined Saturday Night Live’ in time for Season 39, just told his Twitter fans that he’s been let go—in time for season 40.

“Had a blast and loved every second of it. I’m totally honored to be able to make this next joke…FIRED FROM NEW YORK IT’S SATURDAY NIGHT!” he tweeted.

A source close to SNL told breathecast.com that these cast changes are normal for the show this time of the year.

Sure, in Stalingrad, in the summer of 1942. Any other time and place – a little extreme.

After dumping Whelan, Lorne Michaels also removed John Milhiser. Nasim Pedrad and Noel Wells have left on their own.

Also may be gone: Kenan Thompson, Jay Pharaoh, Bobby Moynahan, and Kate McKinnon.

Last year, several cast members have left SNL, most notably Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, and Seth Meyers.

Showbiz411.com reports that Michaels and staff will be lurking around Portland, Oregon next week. Apparently they’re very funny up there. By the end of August they hope to cover most major cities.

There is a lot of wrong info here…Should check sources.  Wiig left two years ago, not last year…Kenan, Kate, Jay, and Bobby are all still in the cast – none are leaving or have been fired.

Also, these types of changes are normal for this time of year.  Last year 4 people left the show and quite a few were hired (and as you’ve stated, 3 of those that were hired have now been let go…)
