Gwyneth Paltrow: Many Child Illnesses Can Be Cured with Proper Nutrition

“The way to know if a food is bothering you is to look for signs of irritation.”

Gwyneth Paltrow
Academy award-winning actress-turned-nutritionist Gwyneth Paltrow, 41, posted a new entry on her blog Goop, promoting her latest nutrition advice. Headlined Demystifying The Diet, the piece is mostly an interview with Kelly Dorfman, one of the world’s foremost experts on using nutrition therapeutically to improve brain function, energy and mood.

Dorfman’s book “Cure Your Child With Food: The Hidden Connection Between Nutrition and Childhood Ailments” says it’s possible to cure ear infections by cutting out dairy, and healing stomach aches by avoiding gluton.

“In a study in D.C., it was found that 89 percent of the times, if you take dairy out of the diet, earache resolves, ” the book says.

Paltrow supports this statement in her blog post: “The way to know if a food is bothering you is to look for signs of irritation. You or your child’s body will tell you it does not like something with a rash, a pain, or mood swings, ” she writes.

Paltrow lists several symptoms that could be borne by food allergies, including stomach pain, ear infections, red cheeks, eczema, asthma, temper tantrums and sleep disturbances.

“Take the suspicious food out for a month, if you can. I recommend that long because there is always a birthday party, illness, or visit from grandma that might skew the trial results. You need a long enough period to see a clear trend, ” she recommends.

Paltrow recommends that we “find a nutritionist or doctor with nutrition training.”

In April, 2013, Paltrow published her latest book, “It’s All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great.”
