Episode 4.4: Introducing the Night’s King
The scene, in which a crowned White Walker turns a human baby into one of his own, managed to cause a real stir among avid book readers. While being merely a somewhat creepy scene for the show’s casual viewers, this was in fact the show’s biggest shift from the original books, and was regarded as “a spoiler” among the written-work’s fans, for whom the Night’s King has been no more than “a legend told to Bran Stark by Old Nan at Winterfell” up to that point. HBO’s synopsis of the episode, which specifically named the character “the Night’s King”, was mysteriously revisited after the fans’ initial heated response.
