Jack Black signs up to play the real life author R.L. Stine in the upcoming “Goosebumps” Movie

Jack Black, one of Hollywood’s most versatile   actors,  is well known for  never been afraid to take on a challenging and quirky role.

However, this time around Black may have surpassed himself by signing up to play a real life character, multi-million selling author, R.L. Stine in Rob Letterman’s movie Goosebumps, which will also star Ken Marino, Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush.

In Goosebumps, the leading character Zack, played by Dylan Minnette, is a teenager who has moved with  his parents to a small rural town, after growing up in a major city. Struggling to adjust to his new surroundings and the slower pace of life, Things begin to look up  against his  upset about moving from a big city to a small town, when he meets his next door neighbor,  Hannah played by Odeya Rush. The problem is that Hannah’s father is none other than the famous, but eccentric author J. L. Stine, the brain behind  the bestselling Goosebumps series.

Soon Zack discovers that Stine is not so much eccentric, but instead  a prisoner of his own vivid imagination, and in his mind the monsters that he portrays in his books actually exist, and Stine keeps them locked up in their books. The plot thickens when Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters, and he needs to use all the guile of  Stine,  and Hannah to get all of them back where they belong, also calling in Coach Carr, played by Ken Marino  who rolls up his sleeves  when monsters dare to  overrun the local high school.

Goosebumps- the  movie features screen play  by Darren Lemke and Mike White, based on a story by Scott Alexander, Larry Karaszewski and Darren Lemke, based on the Goosebumps book series, written by R. L. Stine, recognized as one of the bestselling children’s authors in history, and   published by Scholastic, who have  sold more than 350 million Goosebumps books throughout the  World, since   since the first book in the series was  introduced  in 1992.

The production team for Goosebumps – The Movie will be led by  by Neal H. Moritz and Deborah Forte.

 

Jack Black is indeed multi-talented, equally proficient as a film  actor, producer, stand-up  comedian, voice artist, writer, and musician, Among the films he has starred in are  Nacho Libre, Tropic Thunder, Bernie as well as the Kung Fu Panda films, for which he was twice  nominated for a Golden Globe Award. When he is not on the film set, Jack  features as lead vocalist of the rock group, Tenacious D, which he formed twenty years ago.
