World Number 1 Tiger Woods had been in contention just three shots behind going in to the last day, until he quite literally “spas’d” out, with his previously injured back going into spasm. So he ended up finishing 25th instead.
This is definitely “not your father’s golf club” except if your father is Donald Trump, that is. This explains why Ivanka Trump was very much a presence at this landmark event, which the Trump’s have taken beyond golf and turned into one of South Florida’s premiere social events as well.
Here she is filling in as special correspondent on the Golf Channel’s Morning Drive….
Yesterday in Dural: Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump, Richard Hills, Tim Finchem, Patrick Reed
Heavily refurbished by Donald Trump as a luxury resort, as well as a golf club, since purchasing it in 2011, the re-branded former country club, located in Doral Florida, will certainly benefit from all the attention his family now brings to it.
A regulatory snapshot at the club, posted by Ivanka with bouncing new baby Joseph, her second child with husband Jared Kushner, shows a definitely chubby young fellow, with a distinct resemblance to his grandfather….

At the same time as all this Ivanka has been launching a new jewelry line, called her “Aberdeen collection, ”, and officially inspired by the site of another Trump golf course, this time the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, Scotland.
According to Ivanka “this delicate collection is comprised of designs reflecting the rolling waves from the Aberdeenshire coastline and the impressive sand dunes from the golf course.” Ivanka’s grand mother came from Scotland and Ivanka has many fond memories that go with the connection.
Unfortunately not all such cross-marketing campaigns progress smoothly, and at the same time as the jewelry launch “The Donald” was angrily pulling the plug on building a second course at his Aberdeen golf property, which had previously been widely publicized.
The Donald’s excuse for cancelling the project has been the prospect of a giant wind farm now planned to be built off-shore, which would spoil the view for his customers and which he has been unable to prevent through litigation.
However, since all his golfers are supposed to be concentrating on the little ball in front of them, it might rather be the antics of Scottish nationalist leader Alex Salmond, who has scheduled a referendum on Scottish independence from the UK for this coming September, who this time has done more damage to the Trump digestion.
Businessmen hate uncertainty, and especially political uncertainty. Accordingly, a final decision on the new course there may likely now have to wait until the results are in.
This has now obviously caught daughter Ivanka’s jewelry launch off guard a little bit and now the marketing plan may have to be recalibrated a little. One can be sure, however, she will take this completely in her stride as she continues to balance multiple personal and business roles with calm aplomb.
