Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have been friends since they grew up together in the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada and have worked together on a number of successful production products both for film and television.
At the same time Seth Rogen has built himself a reputation as one of Hollywood’s latest generation of comedy actors, making his debut in the movie “ Pineapple Express” which was released in 2008. The screenplay for Pineapple Express was written by Rogen and Goldberg with James Franco starring alongside Rogan and Rosie Perez.
It was on the set of “ Pineapple Express” that Rogan struck up a friendship with Judd Apatow’s, going on to appear in Judd’s directorial debut “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”, later taking a leading role in the box office successes “Knocked Up” and “Funny People”.
Now it appears that Seth Rogen will be taking a break from starring in movies to renew his collaboration with his long-term producing partner Evan Goldberg to develop the Preacher project, which will be eventually shown on the AMC network, already enjoying audience success with another comic book adaptation- The Walking Dead.
The Preacher comic book series was originally created in the mid-1990s by Steve Dillon and Garth Ennis and tells the story of a tough Texan Minister, Jesse Custer, who gives up on religion, whilst gaining the ability to get anyone to bow to his command, with some often hilarious and often gory results. Published for more than five years on a monthly basis, the final issue of the Preacher was released in August, 2000.

Ennis and Dillon are all in favor of AMC bringing their story to the small screen and producers Rogen and Goldberg are reportedly ecstatic about being given the opportunity to handle the project, then all of the indications are that “the Minister” will be as big a success as the Walking Dead.
Rogen and Goldberg released a statement after the news of their signing broke stating that they have been trying for seven years to work on the Preacher and are delighted that AMC have finally given them the opportunity. “It is our favorite comic of all time, and we’re going to do everything we can to do it right.” Summed up the duo.
