Zach Horowitz Welcomes Alejandro Sanz to the Universal Music Publishing Group

Zach Horowitz, Chairman and CEO of the Universal Music Publishing Group, ( UMPG) has announced the signing of seventeen-time Latin Grammy winner Alejandro Sanz, has signed a multi-year agreement that meaning  that Sanz’s entire catalog of songs will now be distributed exclusively  by UMPG, including all of the songs released on Alejandro’s  first nine studio albums, as well as music released by him in the future..

Among the most influential Latin singer/songwriters  to emerge in the previous two decades, Alejandro Sanz has sold over 23 million albums worldwide with each of his nine studio produced having made platinum, not only in his native Spain but throughout Latin America and the United States, where he enjoys a tremendous following.

Announcing the important signing for his company,  Zach Horowitz pointed out  that Alejandro Sanz has been one of the most iconic and popular Latin singer/songwriters in the world for the last 20 years, producing  music which is timeless and succeeds in touching the heart and soul.

“All of us at UMPG are honored to now represent this gifted artist and his entire catalog, as well as the fact that he has placed his future with the Universal Music Publishing Group.” Horowitz summed up.

Reciprocating Zach Horowitz’s enthusiasm,  Alejandro Sanz replied by stating that he was  very thrilled to share his catalogue with Universal Publishing, a professional team that works with true passion for music, of which he has  a lot to offer and is very proud of the opportunity to be share with  his fans through Zach and his team at UMPG .

Proof of Sanz’s intense popularity and the significance of him signing with UMPG is no more emphasised by the fact that his latest album release “La Musica No Se Toca”  debuted in the number one spot in no less than 18 countries, including the America’s Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. “La Musica No Se Toca”  remained in the best-selling slot as top Latin pop album in the United States as well as in Puerto Rico for over 25 weeks, selling more than half a million copies worldwide.

Since releasing his debut album “Viviendo Deprisa” in 1991, Alejandro Sanz has gone on to become the bestselling recording artist in Spain’s history. During his music career to date, Alejandro  has amassed a mouthwatering total of more than  100 platinum and gold records. As well as being awarded a total of three Grammy Awards, Sanz has also collaborative with some of the entertainment industry’s leading artists covering a broad spectrum ranging from Shakira to Tony Bennett.

 

Zach Horowitz graduated from Stanford Law School in 1978.

Horowitz  began his professional career at the law firm of Kaplan, Livingston in Beverly Hills, California and made his first inroads into the music business many began to work in the legal department of CBS Records, which was later acquired by Sony.

During the ensuing years, Zach Horowitz consistently carved himself out a reputation in the music industry rising to become Global Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for MCA Records, later being promoted to Global Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs of MCA Music Entertainment Group in 1986.

Horowitz joined Universal Publishing in  1989,  serving initially as Executive Vice President of Music Entertainment Group, rising to the posy Chief Operating Officer in 1994

Zach Horowitz  has also served on the Board of Directors of the Recording Industry Association of America since 1989.
