Joseph Gordon Levitt-Post

After almost a lifetime in the entertainment business Joseph Gordon-Levitt has almost completed a 360 degree turn when he recently completed a movie, in which he both wrote the screen play and directed as well is taking the leading role.

The film, Don Jon, has Gordon-Levitt playing Jon Martello, a New Jersey boy of Italian origin, and a modern day Lothario who has the uncanny ability to seduce the most beautiful woman without any particular effort on his part.

However, not too far beneath the surface of this almost perfect existence that any young and red blooded young man would have to be glad to achieve is a level of dissatisfaction as he continues his never-ending search for the even more perfect woman that he met last week.

Working with Joseph Gordon-Levitt behind the cameras on Don Jon, were joint producers Ram Bergman and Nicolas Chartier, while the key members of the cast were Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore and Tony Danza.

With Don Jon just hitting the movie theaters, audience reaction has been mixed. However there are very few that doubts that the egocentric storyline will not make it a considerable commercial success, with a follow-up, to be entitled, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For already being planned.

As far as his abilities as a writer, director and actor Gordon-Levitt received a major thumbs-up from all concerned, playing one of his first leading roles with aplomb while allowing his co-stars ample opportunity to take their share of the credits

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was born and raised in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, to a family with a strong entertainment background. Joseph’s father, Dennis was news director for the Pacifica Radio station, while his mother Jane Gordon, working as the program guide editor for the same station. Jane’s father and Joseph’s grandfather was Michael Gordon, a high profile Hollywood film director during the post-war years.

During the 1980s Gordon-Levitt was busy in Hollywood appealing in a number of movies as a child star, as well as in the highly popular TV series of that time, Third Rock from the Sun, playing the part of Tommy Solomon.

Upon completing his high school education, the young Gordon-Levitt took some time out from his busy from a television career to enroll at Columbia University in 2000, to study history, literature, and French poetry. However the call of the film set was to prove too strong and Joseph was soon picking up increasingly important starring roles in a number of major movies, including Inception, 50/50, The Dark Knight Rises and Looper.

And now with it looking that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is about to enjoy his first taste of commercial success as a movie director, and at the ripe old age of 32, he can look forward to many years both in front of and behind the camera.
