Oracle Heiress Megan Ellison’s Silicon Valley Style Film Production

And the winner is … Megan Ellison.

Megan Ellison, daughter of Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, is using Silicon Valley’s values to produce films.

She founded Annapurna Pictures, which avoids the pigeonholes of play-it-safe Hollywood films in favor of auteur cinema, period pieces and daring subjects. The company has produced The Master, a drama about a Scientology-like cult that starred Joaquin Philip and Philips Seymour Hoffman. Zero Dark Thirty is a docu-drama about the killing of Osama Bin Laden with director Kathryn Bigelow of The Hurt Locker. Currently, she is producing the film about the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange.

In 2014, Megan Ellison was the first female and the fourth person to receive two best picture Oscar nominations in the same year for Her and American Hustle.

Larry Ellison has transferred a good portion of his wealth to his children Megan and David, also a film producer. The two have 3 million shares of Netsuite and own 900 million shares of Oracle each. It is estimated that the Netsuite holdings are worth $306 million alone.
