As part of his efforts, Emanuel just paid a visit to Ma’s Shanghai office. The trip came after Emanuel escorted Ma to a Lakers’ game in Los Angeles last month. The pair was joined at the game by Nathan Hubbard, the head of commerce at Twitter, who Tweeted about it, “Jack Ma is sitting with Ari Emmanuel. In case you needed more proof who runs Hollywood.”

Emanuel has good reason to be looking to expand his entertainment operations into China. That nation has seen a 600% increase in the number of movie screens there in the past seven years and is fast becoming the world’s largest market for movies.
