Ride sharing service Uber is busy diversifying. It has expanded its services into a food delivery service called Uber Eats and is now offering it in New York and Chicago.
Maybe Uber saw the writing on the wall. The company which is valued at more than $1 billion – on paper at least — has been having more than its fair share of problems in the past year.

Let’s see, where to begin? It’s been forced out of countries around the world like India and Spain and from U.S. states like Nevada where it was found to be in violation of local taxi regulations. Uber drivers have been accused and charged with assault and rape in cities around the world like New York.
Uber Eats promises to deliver food in that city within ten minutes. Let’s see them try and beat the traffic.
In a blog post the company said, “To celebrate our arrival, we’re serving up an exclusive menu from LDV Hospitality restaurant, American Cut, made just for EATS by #ChefZero, Marc Forgione. Choose from the spring-fresh salad or NYC Cut sandwich, a delicious twist on the pastrami classic.”
Lunch can be ordered between 11 AM and 2 PM in its service area. Right now that includes the entire lower half of midtown Manhattan — west to east – from 14th Street to 40th Street.
An Uber spokeswoman said, “At Uber, we are always looking for ways to revolutionize the way people connect with their cities around the world—this is another one of those cases. We will continue to test new products that will benefit both customers and the cities in which we operate.”
