“It is a good deal, ” he said, “a deal that meets our core objectives. This deal would cut off every pathway that Iran could take” to build nuclear weapons.
“If this framework leads to a final comprehensive deal, it will make our country, our allies and our world safer, ” he said. “It is a good deal.”
Earlier on Thursday, negotiators from Iran and the major world powers reached the agreement on a framework for a final deal to limit Iran’s nuclear program, and in return remove international sanctions.
According to the Washington Post, the sides would promptly start drafting a final accord to be completed by a June 30 deadline.
Under the outline deal, Iran will shut down more than two-thirds of its uranium producing centrifuges, which can be used to build a nuclear bomb, and dismantle a reactor capable of producing plutonium—while submitting to outside verification.
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, who has s acted as a coordinator for the six powers – Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States, told a news conference: “Today we have taken a decisive step, we have reached parameters. The political determination, the good will of all parties made it possible. “This is a crucial decision laying the agreed basis for the final text of joint comprehensive plan of action. We can now start drafting the text and annexes.”
