Monica Lewinsky is still trying to reinvent herself. Her latest effort is as an interviewer, with author Jon Ronson about his new book for Vanity Fair.
But most people just want her to shut up and go away already.

A video of the interview about Ronson’s book “So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed” is now available on the magazine’s website.
The subject of the interview as well as the book has to do with the use of Twitter to slander or publicly shame people. This is a subject dear to Lewinsky’s heart.
Unfortunately Lewinsky seems to be the only person in the world to miss the irony of what she is doing. The world’s most famous former intern expects everyone to feel sorry for her because of how she was treated by both the press and the late night talk show hosts after her affair with Bill Clinton became public in 1998.
It is clear to all today, except for apparently Lewinsky herself, that she is only given the opportunity to write for magazines like Vanity Fair and give lectures on TED because of what happened to her twenty years ago, or more specifically, because she gave the President of the United States blow jobs over a few month period in 1995.
Referring to social media Lewinsky said, “It’s a strange combination of schadenfreude and othering people, ” whatever that means.
It is a certainty that Lewinsky knows that every time she does something like this she is only reminding people of her nefarious past. Why does this woman think that she somehow not only has a right to be in the public eye today, but that everyone must forget or ignore her past?
If Monica Lewinsky truly wanted people to stop thinking of her in “that way” then she would simply fade away and lead only a private life.
