Barry Sternlicht to Sell Manhattan’s New Baccarat Hotel for $200 Million

Barry Sternlicht’s Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is already looking to sell its new Baccarat hotel in Manhattan for as much as $200 million, The Real Deal has reported.

Located at 20 West 53rd Street across the street from the Museum of Modern Art, the Bacarat, 48 stories high, will have 114 rooms, which will start at $900 a night. The lobby boasts 17 glass chandeliers and 15, 000 pieces of crystal stemware from France’s Baccarat factory.

It was designed by renowned architects Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill.

There are also 62 residential condominium units – 40 of which have already sold –including a penthouse which just listed for $27 million. It will have four-bedrooms, 4½-baths and cover the entire 47th floor of the building. When complete it will total 4, 557 square feet and have 14 foot ceilings. Floor to ceiling windows overlook Central Park and the Empire State Building. It will be the second-most expensive unit in the building. The penthouse, on the 48th and 49th floors, listed for $60 million.
