Produced by CTD and Sheindin’s Queen Bee Productions, the program features a panel of three judges, Patricia DiMango, Tanya Acker and Larry Bakman, who in each show hear court cases, argue the merits of the case amongst themselves, and render a verdict. Its name is derived from the term which is used to describe when judges frequently interrupt lawyers with questions.
Hot Bench, which is still currently airing its first season, will also be upgraded to better stations and time periods for the remainder of its inaugural year. It is distributed by CBS Television and will move CBS-Owned affiliates in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Boston, Miami and Denver on March 30, 2015.
The program averaged a 1.7 live plus same day household rating in the just-concluded November sweep, making it the top rated show in its category.
“I’m gratified that viewers have embraced ‘Hot Bench, ’” Sheindlin said in a statement. “I came up with the idea on a trip to Ireland last year with my husband and we observed a three-judge bench and found the process fascinating. I’m glad the viewers agree!”
“Hot Bench has improved stations’ time periods across the country and in many cases has become a standout in a station’s court block, ” said Joe DiSalvo, president of sales at CTD. “We’re excited to bring the show back next year.”
