Apple CEO Tim Cook made a frank comment about companies that use advertising as a business model and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg got his claws out and scratched back, according to Engadget. Although Cook didn’t mention Zuckerberg or Facebook by name, his criticisms would have been applicable to the social media giant or perhaps to Google.
Cook said, “A few years ago, users of internet services began to realize that when an online service is free, you’re not a customer. You are the product. But at Apple, we believe a good customer experience shouldn’t come at the expense of your privacy.”

Ouch. Mark Zuckerberg, who on more than one occasion has expressed admiration for Cook, abruptly changed his tune in an interview with Time magazine, during which he discussed the launching of Internet.org. He managed to snap back at Cook, “A frustration that I have is that a lot of people increasingly seem to equate an advertising business model with somehow being out of alignment with your customers.I think it’s the most ridiculous concept. What, you think because you are paying Apple, you are somehow in alignment with them? If you were in alignment with them, they would make their products a lot cheaper.”
Zuckerberg then went on to say Apple products cost “an arm and a leg.” Well, let’s see if Tim Cook fires back.
