Sony Pictures may have been hacked by some nefarious North Koreans who are unhappy with how their country is portrayed in Seth Rogen’s upcoming new movie The Interview.
The movie, which co-stars James Franco, offers a less than flattering portrayal of the North Korean dictator Kim Jung Il who is interviewed in it by the duo.

According to Re/code Sony Pictures is investigating the possibility that hackers working on behalf of North Korea were responsible for crippling their networks just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
A group calling itself “Guardians of Peace” left a message on that came up on Sony employees’ computer screens which read, “Hacked by GOP#. Warning! We already warned you and this is just the beginning. We will continue until our request is met. We’ve obtained all of your internal data including your secrets and top secrets and if you don’t obey us we’ll release data shown below to the world.”
Poor English aside, it is interesting that the hackers were polite enough to refer to a “request” rather than a demand.
Some of the files in question were said to have already been released on Reddit last Wednesday. Sony released a statement saying, “Sony Pictures Entertainment experienced a system disruption, which we are working diligently to resolve.”
