Ron Perlman, known for his roles in “Beauty and the Beast, ” “Sons of Anarchy, ” “Hellboy, ” “Pacific Rim” and “The Book of Life” spoke about the suicide of iconic comedian Robin Williams, and said he understood how Williams felt when he took his own life. Speaking on the panel of New York’s ComicCon and promoting his memoir, “Easy Street, ” Perlman said, according to UPI, “I know exactly how Robin Williams felt at the moment he did that. I mean, I know. You read the book and find out why I know … clinical depression killed my brother and almost got me.”

He explained that while life involves loss and disappointments, they can be navigated through with certain life management skills, although Perlman added that there is no way to negotiate with clinical depression, which is a chemical issue, “You better go get some medication because it is chemical … all you see is dead end roads. You don’t see any hope … it is very difficult to singularly pull yourself out of that.”
While Perlman has called his memoir “Easy Street, ” he intends the title to be taken as ironic, because he says his life has been anything but easy. At the same time he counts his blessings, “I’m trying to identify all the forces that went into this series of miracles that has been my life.” However, he admits the book may cause a stir, “I name names. I get down. I get funky. I had to get bodyguards when this shit came out. I’m kidding. No, I’m not.”
Robin Williams took his own life following a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
