Lunches to celebrate the Jewish festival of Sukkot will be held in Canary Wharf from Monday to Wednesday next week (October 13 to 15).

Canary Wharf is a major business district located in Tower Hamlets, London. It is one of London’s two main financial centers – along with the traditional City of London – and contains many of the UK’s tallest buildings, including the second-tallest, One Canada Square.

In March 2004 control over Canary Wharf was acquired by a consortium of investors backed by Glick Family Investments.

The buffet meals will be served up inside a specially constructed Sukkah in Montgomery Square.

Designed by architects Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the sukkah represents the fragile dwellings used by the Israelites for shelter during their 40 years of wandering in the desert.

The series of three lunches for local Jewish groups and Wharf-based employees of the faith, have been sponsored by Canary Wharf Group Plc, Clifford Chance and BGC Partners.

Canary Wharf Group’s Danny Seliger, said: “We are delighted for the Sukkah to be coming to Canary Wharf and are looking forward to the opportunity to welcome members of the local community in celebration of this Jewish festival.”
