PACMan Tom Steyer Gives NextGen $15 Million

Parties, campaigns and PACs had to meet their deadlines Saturday to disclose details from donations. Democrat and environmental activist, Tom Steyer, wrote a $15 million check in August to his green PAC NextGen Climate Action. The PAC has received a total of $26 million from Steyer’s personal funds, with its next most generous donor from Berkeley California, giving $2, 500. NextGen will provide funding for candidates who support environmental issues and green initiatives.

The Democrats are fighting with dollars to keep their Senate majority. Chicago billionaire Fred Eychaner gave $1 million to the Senate Majority PAC, making his total contribution $5 million. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has reportedly raised $38 million so far.

However, the Republican National Committee has raised $3 million more than the Democratic National Committee in the past month. The RNC raised $10 million in August, has $14 million at its disposal and spent $9 million in get-out-the vote initiatives. The DNC raised $7.4 million in August, owes $2 million to vendors has $11 million saved and spent $5.8 million in the last month.
