On the market for several years, their Sunset Island 1 house, named “Palacio del Eden, ” saw its asking price reduced to $10.9 million in December 2013. That was marked down from as much as $14.5 million. It has been called the Crown Jewel of Sunset Island.
The estate includes a mosaic infinity pool with underwater seating, a majestic foyer capped with a backlit 14 inch diameter stained glass dome, a 13 seat theater, a billiard room, a chef’s kitchen, a wine cellar, fresco ceilings, solid marble archways and columns, an inner courtyard, master en suites and a four car garage.
Palm trees border the back of the estate along the beach.
Spread out over 9, 444 square feet, the two floor house has 5 bedrooms and 6 and a half baths. The estate offers 100 feet of magnificent bay views.
The listing says that it is, “Surrounded by picturesque, professionally appointed grounds the property is reminiscent of the most luxurious resorts.”
The couple bought the house in 2007 for $2.842 million.
They are currently at work building a new home at 42 Star Island Drive in Miami. They were criticized for demolishing an 89 year old mansion that previously stood there.
At the time Lisa Hochstein posted a picture of herself on line in which she can be seen driving one of the tractors that tore down the mansion. She included the caption, “Taking our star island house down! I cannot tell you how good it felt and how fun it was! #rhom #demoday #demolition.”
The new home is being designed by Kobi Karp. Hochstein posted a picture of the construction showing the foundation’s beginnings on Instagram. He captioned the picture saying, “Forms being placed at the new home. This one is for the gym and spa with a guest home above.”
The house will have 20, 000 square feet of space when it is completed. There will be large lack terraces, a roof deck and a fountain will grace on the motor court’s south side.
There will also be a guest house, with a Palladian door under its portico.
