Located at 9555 Heather Road in the Coldwater Canyon area of Beverly Hills, the 1.3 acre gated estate’s asking price just went up from $25 million.
Attal bought it in 1999 for only $2.55 million, so after 15 years he’s looking for more than 1, 000% return on his investment.
The estate has a multi-winged main house, designed by renowned California architect Paul Revere Williams. It was built for Bert Lahr, the Wizard of Oz’s Cowardly Lion, in 1941. Since then, Betty Grable, Allen Ladd Jr., Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and Paul McCartney have all owned it.
The entrance from the street is a stone tiled driveway through a stone fence.
It has five main bedrooms and two staff bedrooms. There are seven full and three half bathrooms. The living room has high vaulted ceilings and a stuffed deer over a fireplace.
Fashion designer Ralph Lauren personally redesigned the interior, in order to give the home the look and feel of an East Coast estate in the Hamptons or Greenwich, Connecticut.
There is also a separate guest house with two more bedrooms and bathrooms and its own two car garage. It also has a separate entrance from the road.
Between the two houses, there’s more than 10, 000 square feet of living space in the estate.
The new owners will be able to enjoy the benefit of a swimming pool and spa, outdoor kitchen, tennis court, putting green, gaming pavilion with a wood paneled two lane bowling alley and a media room with a wet bar.
