That great political thinker, Rihanna, decided to take sides in the Middle East (always a bad idea) with a tweet she regretted instantly.

Around noon EST, Tuesday, the “Pour It Up” mockingbird tweeted out “#FreePalestine, ” counted eight minutes and deleted it.

The post can no longer be seen on her feed, but the Internet never forgets:

Rihanna tweet

Rihanna’s tweet was never meant to go out in the first place, according to TMZ. “She deleted it because it was never meant to be tweeted, ” goes their quote from a source. “She didn’t even realize it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans.”

OK, that’s so unbelievable, both my cats are nodding sadly.

Back in 2013, during a concert in Tel Aviv, some reporters in the audience thought Rihanna inserted “all I see is Palestine” in place of “all I see is dollar signs” in the song “Pour it Up, ” meaning that Israel, including the very concert hall full of ticket buying Israelis, is rightfully Palestinian.

She denied. Looks like denying and deleting is what major stars with anti-Israeli views are doing these days. NBA All-Star Dwight Howard posted the same hashtag, then deleted, then apologized.
