Kate Hudson, gorgeous offspring of the lovely Goldie Hawn, told the Boston Herald that playing the ultra-supportive wife Sarah Bloom in Zach Braff’s “Wish I Was Here” was a tough assignment.
Sarah works at a job she hates, supporting her so called actor and husband Aidan (Braff) who keeps auditioning fruitlessly.
“Sarah is extremely patient and far more supportive than I am in real life, ” Hudson confessed (she used to be married to musician Chris Robinson, and has been engaged for four years to Matthew Bellamy, father of her son, Bingham).
“Sarah believes in Aidan but at the same time wants him to understand that it’s time for him to step up in a sense, ” Hudson said, musing that couples “have those moments no matter what the situations are.”
Sarah helps her husband through his rocky relationship with his father (Mandy Patinkin), who becomes critically ill.
She has a great scene, “where it all starts to come together, and was something I related to because I’m a family girl. I grew up in a very, very close family that is not without its emotional challenges and when you’re dealing with difficulty with your father, connecting with your father, that’s something I definitely relate to for the importance of that role in your life and how it informs your life.”
Like we said, Hudson is the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, but was raised by Goldie’s longtime partner Kurt Russell, whom she considers her real dad.
“I personally related to the depth of what it is to need that relationship and having the strong maternal role, ” Hudson said.
In September, Hudson will co-stars with James Franco in the thriller “Good People, ” which she promises will be dangerous. She’ll know more after she reads the screenplay.
