Real Housewives Of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel had a firm presence in kitchens across America, with to her popular Skinnygirl products. That’s before her talk show (aptly named “Betheny”) went under.
“I am relieved, ” Betheny wrote on her blog last February. “What I really want right now is to be with my daughter, to do yoga, to focus on Skinnygirl and my writing, and to give myself a break.”
Go, Skinnygirl!
What’s a Skinnygirl, some of you visiting us from other planets may be asking.
OK, here’s the info, don’t adjust your antennas: in March 2009, Betheny Frankel’s book, Naturally Thin: Unleash Your SkinnyGirl and Free Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting, was published, followed by The SkinnyGirl Dish: Easy Recipes for Your Naturally Thin Life, which was published in December.
Betheny created an exercise DVD, Body by Bethenny, in spring 2010 and an audio book, The Skinnygirl Rules, summarizing her two text-based books.
Then, in In 2011, the prolific Betheny published, A Place of Yes: 10 Rules for Getting Everything You Want Out of Life and in December 2012 the novel Skinnydipping.
But first, in 2011, goes the skinny on Skinnygirl, Betheny Frankel created the Skinnygirl cocktail company, which she sold to Fortune Brands’ Beam Global for an estimated $100 million.
Then, like we said, Betheny tried her “Betheny” show and tasted defeat. But now she’s back from the ashes, all skinny and smiley, with a promised assortment of new Skinnygirl products in the works!
She’s starting with licensing for a Skinnygirl microwave popcorn brand, which ConAgra recently announced it’s interested in, because, frankly, Betheny is prettier than Orville Redenbacher.
But popcorn is just the beginning, and, as she told WSJ, in addition to her Skinnygirl drinks, she’s planning a range of more exciting products. “I am working on coffee that is not out yet and working on salad dressings and ice cream.”
And appliances. “We also have a kitchen appliance coming out. It will be a health problem-solving product such as a personal blender. Blending will take over juicing.”
Seeing as juicing first took over from just eating fruits and vegetables, I feel it had it coming.
