Scarlett Johansson may not be an Oscar candidate this year, but you can take some compensation in being awarded the prestigious César award the national film award of France.
Scarlett, at just 29, is reckoned to be youngest ever recipient of the award, and is in hallowed company alongside such movie greats as Dustin Hoffman, Kate Winslet and Kevin Costner whose contribution to cinema have also been recognised by being given this honorary award.
Ms. Johansson recently completed a role in French director Luc Besson’s action packed movie “Lucy, ” although her César award is being given in recognition of her contribution to the film industry, which is indeed remarkable considering her age.
Scarlett Johansson first began to appear in movies as a child actress even winning a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Female for her performance in the film Manny & Lo, shot in 1996 when she was only 12. Through her early teens for her performances in The Horse Whisperer in 1998 and Ghost World three years later. Her transition into the adult world as a film actress actress went particularly well, with her part in Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, made in 2003, when she was 19, earned her a BAFTA award for Best Actress in a Leading Role as well as a Golden Globe Award nomination. The same year Scarlett also was a nominee for another Golden Globe award, this time for her part in the film “ the Girl with the Golden Earring”.
Since then Scarlett has kept herself constantly busy both in the film studio as well as in theatre, having been the recipient of another two Golden Globe nominations for best actress, with many movie roles already awaiting her in the future, which undoubtedly will bring further recognition within the movie industry.
