Sam Nazarian, CEO of SBE, the Los Angeles-based hospitality company will be finally taking the wraps off his eagerly anticipated hotel project the SLS Las Vegas, with the big day pencilled in for the Labor Day weekend, at the beginning of September.
The SLS Las Vegas hotel complex, situated on the northern end of the strip—on a site which was formerly occupied by the legendary Sahara Hotel and Casino will boast more than 1, 600 guest rooms and suites backed up by a number of sbe’s well-known nightclubs, including an offshoot of the iconic The Sayers Club in Los Angeles.
The complex will also be home to a number of interesting dining concepts such as Cleo, Katsuya, 800 Degrees, The Bazaar, Umami Burger and another L.A. favorite, The Griddle Café.

In addition the SLS Las Vegas complex will include 10, 000 square feet of high-end retail as well as, 30, 000 square feet of conference space.
SBE took over ownership of the property way back in 2007, eventually winding up operations at the Sahara in June 2011, almost 60 years before it opened its doors for the first time.
Prior to sanctioning the development of the former Sahara site in spring 2012, Sam Nazarian envisaged that the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip will be the future of the desert city, and how pleased he was that sbe will be well positioned positioned at the forefront of that growth.
“Las Vegas has recovered steadily in the past year, and we’re excited to be able to inject capital back into the local economy through the adaptive reuse of the famed Sahara.” Nazarian wound up his statement.

A spokesperson for SBE Entertainment stated that close to 9000 jobs will now be created with the reopening of the hotel complex, which has injected to date around $400 million into the local economy.
Sam Nazarian was raised in Los Angeles, to a family who left Iran after the revolution in 1979. Sam’s father Younes made his mark in the business world as co-founder of Qualcomm, designers and producers of semiconductor equipment.
Nazarian formed his first business venture in 1998 when he was just 20 years old, in the field of telecommunications, principally acting as distributors for Nextel software. Within one year of founding his company, Platinum Wireless, Sam moved into the world of real estate, establishing 3Wall Development specializes in the development of multi-family housing throughout California.
His next venture was into the hospitality sector, beginning with the opening of a number of nightclubs in and around Los Angeles, as well as partnerships with some of the city’s leading restaurants.
In 2007, sbe made their first entry into the hotel business by acquiring the Sahara Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas since then also investing in a number of other hotel chains, although without his company taking any part in their management.
