This week saw the opening of the annual CES trade show, traditionally held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. CES in an international trade platform where all the leading movers and shakers in the electronics industry show off all the latest designs for the coming year, as well as some mind-boggling prototypes for what is planned for the far-off future.
Close to the center of attention was Abe Reichental CEO at 3D Systems Corp presenting the company’s latest product, the Cube 3 3D printer. According to Reichental, the Cube 3 will bring all the benefits of three-dimensional printing to the family for less than $1000.
Not only that, but the Cube 3 will also increase the size of 3-D creation capability and to make life easier for those new to the world of 3-D printing, will come with its own specially programmed and exceptionally user-friendly mobile app that will make the whole process very straightforward and convenient.

The Cube 3 is capable of creating three-dimensional models up to six cubic inches in size, capable of producing prints to a resolution of 75 microns. Courtesy of preloaded filament jets and its own auto-leveling print pad, the Cube 3 is able to print two materials and two colors simultaneously through using recyclable ABS and compostable PLA plastic, which, in a choice of more than 20 colors. The device’s has been designed in such a fashion that it will allow you for the mixing and matching of colors and materials.
While 3D Systems have been producing three-dimensional printers for industry and commerce for a number of years, Abe is emphasizing that Cube 3 was specifically launched to fill what the company recognizes being a much-needed demand for a domestic 3D printer, going on to insist in the company website, that their latest product can be readily used by children, over the age of eight.
Rock Hill, South Carolina based 3D Systems are recognized as being global leaders in providing 3D printing, integrated solutions including 3D imaging and customization software. 3D Systems products are used in the creation of concept models, precision and functional prototypes, master patterns for tooling, through the utilization of a number of proprietary processes that allow their printers to fabricate physical objects, which are used in the design, development and production stages for an increasing number of specialist industries.
Abe Reichental has been President and CEO at 3D Systems Corp since 2003, joining the company from the Sealed Air Corporation.
