Israel was treated to a winter storm on Wednesday that dumped snow all over the country. And Jerusalem walk up Thursday morning to a blanket of snow. Unfortunately, the snow began to melt as the sun came out and will probably be gone by the weekend.

In the above picture Jerusalem snow piles can be seen at the shuk after it was plowed.
The Israeli police closed the roads leading into the city last night.
The snow came courtesy of winter storm Elpis which had already dumped snow all over Turkey and Greece.
Pictured above is snow falling on Jerusalem in front of the entrance to the Mahane Yehuda outdoor market known as the shuk. People can be seen taking refuge from the snow inside the covered area.

But the Golan Heights expects to have snow for a while.
The Jerusalem snow has left schools closed for the day and local bus lines are not yet running.
But the clean up has begun as pictured below:
