Lior Raz has made a name for himself internationally as the star of the hit Israeli television show “Fauda.” Raz even became popular in Arab countries like the UAE before the Abraham Accords. Now Lior Raz hopes to prove his worth in a new television series premiering this Friday on Netflix called “Hit and Run.”
“Hit and Run” is written, created and executive produced by Fauda’s Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz. In it, Raz plays Segev Azulay, a man whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a mysterious hit and run accident. The Affair’s Sanaa Lathan plays the female lead.

Lior Raz, 49, stands to become the next breakout Israeli star after Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman. Raz has the stage presence of an action hero so be sure to look for him in the near future starring in action movies. Or, at the very least, he will probably pop up as a bad guy in a movie or two.

The show also features Israeli actor Igal Naor, who can play both dramatic and comedic roles. He has also frequently plays the bad guy in Hollywood movies and even played Sadam Hussein in an HBO mini-series.
Lior Raz told the NY Post “This show is about grief and loss and a chase and revenge. Segev is a guy who used to be in the special forces in the Israeli army, in the counter-terrorism unit, and when we meet him his past is behind him. He has a beautiful wife and a daughter he really loves. The only thing that matters to him is being a tour guide in Israel — but when his wife is killed, his past catches up to him.”

Raz also explained that they chose to set the new show in New York, rather than Los Angeles because the climate in LA is too similar to that of Tel Aviv. Describing how the differences between New York City and Israel affect the storytelling of “Hit and Run,” Raz said, “When I was younger and I came to New York for the first time in my life I was shocked. Everything was closing in on me, the buildings, etc.”
“It was rainy and all the people on the streets were shoving. I felt like a little kid who was lost and didn’t know what to do,” added Lior Raz. “This is how we wanted Segev to feel. He doesn’t want to be there, he doesn’t understand the people or the culture — you see, through Segev, how different the Israelis and the Americans are.”
