An Israeli healthcare worker was accidentally given at least four doses in total of the Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine. Healthcare workers are among the first in line to get vaccinated as they must deal ill people every day and, as a result, they were among the first groups of people to see widespread Covid-19 infections.
Maccabi Healthcare Services pharmacist Uday Azizi told Israel’s Channel 12 News that he is feeling fine and that there were no bad side effects. The incident, though, does not help allay the public’s concerns over the safety of the Covid vaccines.
So how did it happen?

Each vial of the Pfizer vaccine contains four and even five doses. Apparently the person who administered the vaccination to Aziz did not know this and used an entire vial. People need to get two doses of the vaccinations, each one given 21 days apart.
According to official guidelines for the vaccine, each person should receive two doses of the vaccine 21 days apart. Azizi was forced to go to the hospital for observation of any possible adverse effects from the over-dosage.
Uday Azizi was cheerful during his interview which was broadcast while he worked at his pharmacy. “I have no problem getting it [the vaccine] again, I choose to be optimistic. In any case, I will probably have to get the second dose of the vaccine in three weeks.”
Azizi also had some words for the people who are afraid of getting vaccinated. He wants people to understand that they are not just getting it for themselves, but for their communities and societies at large. “Think about it beyond yourself, there is something bigger here, there is a community, population and life that we hope to return to as soon as possible,” he said.
As for those concerned that a vaccination includes a weakened form of the virus he said, “It should be understood that this vaccine is not a virus, it is a tool that allows the immune system to deal with the virus.”
