8 Ways to Stop Seeing Ads on YouTube Videos

By Contributing Author

However, there is no need to get frustrated because it is possible to remove the ads on YouTube videos. The following are 8 ways on how to remove ads on YouTube videos.

  • Subscribe to YouTube Red

YouTube has a premium subscription called YouTube Red which provides an adless video watching experience. The premium subscription is only available at selected countries including the US, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. You can sign up by logging into your Google account and go to your profile photo > Get YouTube Premium. If you qualify to sign up for YouTube Premium, it will have a button for you to click to start your free trial.

  • Refresh the Video Page

You can refresh the video page to make the ad disappear. However, keep in mind that the ad will keep appearing even when you refresh the page if you keep hanging out on the site to watch a lot of videos at one time. So, after watching one long video, come back again after some hours.

  • Press on the Skip Button to Skip the Ads on The Video

There is a video ad that plays at the beginning before the actual video content loads. Usually, there is a skip button that will appear after 11 seconds or so. If you click the skip button, the ad will disappear. If it does not have any skip button, look at the bottom of the player and check how long the ad will last. Then, go away from your desktop to do something else and return afterwards when the ad ends.

  • Click on the X Button on the Floating Banner Ads

After the front ad finishes playing, the actual video will load but this time a floating banner ad will appear at the bottom. To stop seeing this ad, you can click on the x button. It will disappear and only come back after you have watched the video for some time. If the floating banner reappears, just click the x button again.

  • Install an Adblocker to Block Ads on YouTube

You can block ads on YouTube videos by using an adblocker plugin. The ad blocker for YouTube has a whitelist feature that allows you to prevent the ad on a specified URL from being blocked. It is also possible to block popups by enabling the popup blocker in your browser. Usually, this feature is accessible in the privacy and settings of the browser.

  • Download the Video on YouTube

If you have fast broadband, you can use a YouTube video downloader plugin to download the videos to your computer. If you are sharing the internet at home, try to download only one video to watch and then come back to download again after you finish watching the video. This can prevent the plugin and browser from hanging which will force you to reset your computer.

  • Record a Video with a Screen Recorder

It takes a lot of bandwidth to download the video using a YouTube video downloader plugin. If you are using shared internet, someone will complain and you will have to stop the video download. So, instead of using a video downloader plugin, you can use a screen recorder to record the video. If you use a screen recorder, it will take up a lot of space. However, you can copy the video to your pen drive and delete it on the computer hard disk. In this way, your boss will not find out that you have been downloading videos on the office computer.

  • Watch Videos on Channels with Less than 10K Views

Not all videos show ads on YouTube. Videos on channels with less than 10K views usually will not display any ads. This is because YouTube requires the video channels’ owners to accrue at least 10K views on their channels to join the YouTube Partner Program. So, if you want to watch videos without ads, look for new channels that are recently started. You can click on the username of the uploader in the video description to go to the channel page and find out the number of views it has.

  • Copy and Paste the YouTube URL in a Videos Without Clutter Site

There is a type of site where you can paste in online video URL and watch the video without any distraction. On Google, you can search for the keyword “videos without clutter” and you will see a list of sites that allow you to watch videos without distraction. It will strip all kinds of distractions such as ad, and comments.
