November will see David Blaine return to television after a gap of many years. He will be presenting what he promises to be a magical evening where the audience will find it difficult to discern what is “Real or Magic”.

Aptly titled David Blaine: Real or Magic the 90-minute special will feature clips of the magician performing his magic in private shows in front of such major public figures as Woody Allen, Harrison Ford, Katy Perry and former President George W. Bush among a number of others,

Previewing the special, David Blaine explained that he specifically chose clips of people that he especially enjoyed performing in front of, and in places that I knew people would understand that I couldn’t have staged or set up or had people pretending.”

“I wanted it to all be believable and went after people you never could get to pretend. I combined that with going into the streets and encountering all different people to do magic nonstop. The November special will contain the most magic I’ve ever put into one show, and I’ve been slowly assembling it over the past year and worked nonstop to make this presentation the best I could.” Blaine summed up.

With no stage or glitzy props, the forthcoming ABC television special will be the first show focusing especially on magic that David Blaine will have taken part in for more than fourteen years since opted out of performing in public to focus on the huge scale stunts that he has been successfully staging ever since.

According to Blaine the show will contain some “ crazy moments” through performing tricks that the live audience found it difficult to believe were actually happening, despite witnessing them being performed in front of their eyes. Many of Blaine’s magic will be shown being performed in the homes of famous people, places where these tricks have never been attempted in the past.

Blaine will take up the role of executive producer for the forthcoming special, to be directed by Emmy-winning Matthew Akers.

For the meantime, a specific date for the 90-minute Real or Magic special to be aired is yet to be announced.

David Blaine was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Little Falls, New Jersey, leaving home in 1990, when he was just seventeen; to live in Manhattan, New York to pursue his career as a musician.

Apart from some of the spectacular stunts and tests of endurance he has performed over the years, David Blaine devotes a lot of his spare time performing his magic in children’s hospital wards, burn units and juvenile wards not just in the United States but throughout the World. Blaine spent some time in Israel during the Second Lebanese War in 2006, entertaining children in the North of the country confined to bomb shelters during almost continuous missile attacks.

To help the survivors of the horrendous earthquake in Haiti, David Blaine performed some of his magic for 72 hours consecutively in the middle of Times Square, New York as part of his “Magic For Haiti” appeal which raised close to one hundred thousand dollars

David Blaine has traveled internationally performing magic privately for leading political figures including formers US Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush as well as for the former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, as well as the Presidents of Georgia, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

Additionally, Blaine has given private performance in front of leading figures from the world of commerce including British-based Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Bill Gates of Microsoft, and current New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. From the world of entertainment and sport, David Blaine has performed his magic in front of Woody Allen, Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Muhammad Ali in private performance.

However the most unlikely of Blaine’s followers has to be master mathematician Stephen Hawking, whose giant intellect has even reportedly been both impressed and baffled by Blaine’s capabilities. Hawkings is slated to be one of the featured guests in Blaine’s forthcoming TV spectacular.
