Larry King and Brett Ratner were both honored by the American Jewish Historical Society. Ratner received the first ever Visionary Leadership Award at the organization’s Emma Lazarus Statue of Liberty Award Dinner on Thursday where the main honoree was Larry King.
Every year, the Emma Lazarus Statue of Liberty Award is presented by the AJHS to an individual or group whose contribution reflects the highest values of the American Jewish community. Beginning this year, the organization added the Visionary Leadership Award given to a dynamic thought leader in the American Jewish community.

The Hollywood Reporter quoted the two honorees’ comments at the ceremony.
“All that is good in me is incontrovertibly attributable to this culture, ” Ratner said. “I owe most of this to my beloved grandparents who came to America a little over a half a century ago from eastern Europe via Cuba and always taught me that being Jewish is something which I should always be proud of.”

Larry King said, “I’ve asked too many questions. I’m humbled by this award, I’m gratified to get it, especially when I look at all the people who received it in the past and I interviewed many of them. So I thank you very much. My heart will be with the Jewish Historical Society, my soul and heart will always be a Jew.”
Larry King has joined a group which included Avital Sharansky, Elie Wiesel, Henry Kissinger and Edgar M. Bronfman.
