Saturday Night Live’s youngest star Pete Davidson has opened up about his personal life, including thoughts of suicide, while a guest on “The Breakfast Club” radio show this week. The 22 year old comic said that the rapper Cudi actually saved his life.
Davidson told the show’s hosts, “Cudi’s the best of all. He saved my life. I would’ve killed myself if I didn’t have Kid Cudi. I would’ve killed myself. Absolutely 100 percent. I truly believe if ‘Man on the Moon’ didn’t come out, I wouldn’t be here.”

The first SNL star to be born after 1990 lost his father on 9/11. Pete Davidson’s dad was a firefighter who died when the Towers fell. He has suffered from depression his whole life and also suffers from the illness Chron’s Disease.
Davidson also said about Cudi, who made similar personal revelations in his music, “It’s kind of comforting to know your hero goes through the same stuff you do. I think that’s why a lot of kids my age can relate to Cudi and people love him so much is because he’s a very emotional dude.”

And the SNL star has also been very open about his use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. It plays a big role in Davidson’s comedic persona, as well as his appearances on Staurday Night Live’s fake news segment “Weekend Update.”
He discussed this in an interview with A.V. Club. Like all comics, Petesaid that his stand up is very much thereputic for him.
“You keep all your shit to yourself and you’re really angry, and you get on stage and rant and people laugh at it. And then you’re like, ‘Oh. It is okay.’ It really helps, ” he said. And Davidson added, “they’re personal jokes about my dad. They’re not like, ‘Did you yell Geronimo before your friend jumped off one of the towers?’ It’s not like shit like that.”
