Two senior terrorist leaders were killed in military strikes in less than 24 hours. The first was Fuad Shukar – also known as ” al-Hajj Mohsin ” – Hezbollah’s most senior military commander who was killed in Beirut in an air strike by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The second terror leader killed was Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas; terror organization’s political leader. Haniyeh, who lived in hiding in Qatar, was killed in what the Iranian government called a missile strike as he attended the swearing-in ceremony for Iran’s new president Masoud Pezeshkian Wednesday morning.
Fuad Shukar was responsible for the rocket attack on Saturday on the Israeli-Druze town Majdal Shams in which ten children and two teens were killed.

At this time, Israeli authorities have only taken credit for the killing of Fuad Shukar, but have said nothing about the death of Ismail Haniyeh.
The IDF spokesman released a statement confirming that on July 30, 2024, in what it called a “targeted assassination operation” Israel Air Force fighter jets attacked in the Beirut area and killed Fuad Shukar. The IDF said Shukar was the head of the strategic formation of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
In the 1990s he promoted terrorist attacks against the IDF forces and the South Lebanese army, and in 2000 he was directly involved in the killing and kidnapping of the bodies of three Israeli soldiers Sgt. Binyamin Avraham, the late Sgt. Adi Avitan, and Sgt. Omar Suaed. The three were killed by Hezbollah terrorists while patrolling along the perimeter fence on the border with Lebanon.
Since then, he has planned and directed many terrorist attacks that have harmed innocent people.
There are now concerns that these killings could lead to a wider conflict with Iran and its proxy Hezbollah.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre commented on this possibility after the killing of Fuad Shukar in a press briefing saying, “We do not believe that an all-out war is inevitable. We believe that it can still be avoided.”
The IDF stated that, as for now, it is not making any changes to its standing home front defense policies.
“At this time the IDF is conducting a situation assessment, if any changes are decided upon, we will update the public immediately on the platforms of the IDF and the Home Front Command,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. “You must stay informed and act according to the instructions of the Home Front Command.”
