No one would be surprised to hear that America came up pretty high on the list of countries that are the most sexually promiscuous in the world, as did Israel. Nor would anyone be surprised that three Scandinavian countries, Iceland (4th place at 13 partners), Norway (7th place at 12.1) and Sweden (9th place, 11.8), came out in the top ten. But people may just be surprised about where Israel placed on the list from the people at World Population Review, and be really surprised by who came in first.
And the world’s two most populous nations came in at the bottom.

The ranking system for sexual promiscuity was based on the average number of sexual partners a person has in a lifetime.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines sexual promiscuity as “having or involving many sexual partners : not restricted to one sexual partner or few sexual partners.” Others would define it as not waiting very long between different sexual partners, or having many partners. However one chooses to define it, there is no set number of sexual partners in a lifetime or year or day that needs to be met to be a promiscuous person. It really depends on culture, religion and opinion.
If you are shocked that there are people who even have more than ten partners in a lifetime then you probably set a very low standard for sexual promiscuity. If you thought the number would have been higher, then you are no prude.
The US came in at number 12 on the list of sexual promiscuity with an average of 10.7 sexual partners per person. The United States ranks third overall in population(behind India and China) with a total of 341,437,159 people.
Israel came in 16th on the sexual promiscuity list. Israelis have an average of 10.6 sexual partners in a lifetime.
And believe it or not, Turkey came in first place in the world. According to the survey, the average Turk has slept with about 14.5 different people in his lifetime.
“Most individuals have multiple sexual partners over the course of their lifetimes, with surveys indicating a global average of nine sexual partners during a person’s life,” said World Population Review, “The average number of sexual partners can vary significantly from country to country, as cultural norms can have a significant impact on the number of people someone has sex with.”
Surprisingly, a few European countries like Germany came in at the bottom of the list on promiscuity. But their people still had an average number of at least six partners in a lifetime.
Not so surprisingly, India came in dead last, just behind China and Vietnam, with an average of just 3 sexual partners per person. India has some very strict religious standards and prohibits birth control, which limits promiscuity. China and Vietnam have governments that are not so open minded about such things.
