World’s 10 Best Airports List Will Surprise You

JFK Airport

JFK Airport (Wikipedia)

Believe it or not, New York’s John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport made the list of the world’s ten best airports in food and dining for 2024. The much maligned gateway to America actually came in at number seven on the survey of airports from the people at Food & Wine. And All Clear Travel Insurance labeled JFK the most luxurious airport in America and the eleventh most luxurious in the entire world.

The new surely came as a surprise to most New Yorkers; however, both of the city’s airports have undergone massive upgrades in recent years.

The Food & Wine survey was conducted by 180 experts on travel and service.

The world’s number one airport, according to Food & Wine, is the Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore. The magazine said that this airport offers the “best flavors literally right out the gate.” The airport offers more than 100 food vendors, so visitors are “bound to find something to delight your taste buds.”

Tokyo-Narita International Airport came in at number two, Dubai International Airport in third place, London’s Heathrow Airport fourth and the recently opened new terminal at Turkey’s Istanbul Airport came in at number five.

As for JFK, Food & Wine said the airport’s food selection is “almost as massive as the airport itself.” The airport’s terminal 4 and terminal 1 were standouts. Airlines like El Al, KLM and Virgin Atlantic fly through terminal 4.

JFK is the busiest of the seven airports in the New York airport system and the 6th-busiest airport in the United States. It’s also the busiest international air passenger gateway into North America, with nonstop or direct flights to destinations on all six inhabited continents. The airport features five passenger terminals and four runways.

JFK is undergoing a $19 billion renovation and will open two new terminals by 2030. This will make travel there much easier.

Its biggest drawback, however, is the lack of public transportation connecting the airport to Manhattan and Manhattan’s main train stations.
