Idan Amedi, a famous Israeli actor who gained worldwide notoriety for his part on the hit Israel TV show “Fauda,” was wounded while fighting in Gaza. Many are describing this as a “life imitates art” kind of moment.
Amedi was reportedly “seriously injured” and airlifted to the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer on Monday. Details of his wounding are not yet known, but Amedi’s father said the actor is recovering. Israel’s news agency Walla reported that doctors removed shrapnel from Amedi’s body.
Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, the creators of the series “Fauda,” told Walla, “Idan is a true hero and on the first day of the war he decided to put everything aside and go fight. First in the north and then in the south. We pray for his speedy recovery and are sure he will be fine.”

On Fauda, Idan Amedi plays the role of Sagi, an Arab-Israeli who joins the Israeli security forces. The show has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is one of the most popular shows broadcast on Netflix in Arab countries like the UAE, dating back to even before the Abraham Accords were signed.
Even though he is a famous actor and a musician, Amedi, like all Israelis, continues to perform military reserve duty. He is a combat soldier and was called up to fight in Israel’s “Iron Swords” War against the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza which began after the barbaric October 7 attack.
Idan Amedi served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for two years, from 2006 to 2008. He was a member of the combat engineering corps, and he also served as a bodyguard for former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
“It’s crazy, what they built here,” Idan Amedi told Israel’s Channel 12 News about Hamas’ bases in Gaza in an interview recently . “The operation here is on a very central [Hamas tunnel] route. We found kilometers of tunnels here, weaponry, and even special weaponry. We’ve been busy the past two days trying to destroy it.”
“After 90 days of fighting, we are continuing to destroy the short-range missile sites, the launch sites, and the command facilities of the Hamas terrorist organization.”
Idan Amedi is an Israeli singer-songwriter, actor, and martial artist. He was born on February 19, 1988, in Pisgat Ze’ev, Jerusalem, to a Kurdish-Jewish family. Amedi began playing the guitar at the age of 12. He also studied taekwondo and Thai boxing, and was the runner-up in the national taekwondo championship in 2005.
Amedi’s music career began in 2010, when he participated in the eighth season of the Israeli singing competition Kokhav Nolad. He finished in second place, and his performance helped to launch his career. He has released four albums to date: Idan Amedi (2011), Lately (2013), Wanted to Be (2015), and A Part-Time (2017).
