International firms like Oracle and Intel are paying their employees in Israel bonuses, among other compensations, because of the Iron Swords War in Gaza. They are joined, in this respect, by SAP, Salesforce and Nvidia.

Oracle, Jewish entrepreneur Larry Ellison’s computer company, told all its 400 employees in Israel that each one will get a bonus in their paychecks to help deal with the crisis of the ongoing war in Gaza. The company, however, has not revealed what the bonus payments will be.

“Oracle will provide financial support to all its employees in Israel through a one-time salary payment,” Israel Oracle VP and Country Leader Oracle Israel Eran Feigenbaum told his employees. “This payment will be paid in the coming days into your bank account. This payment is in addition to your regular salary from Oracle, and we hope it will provide additional support to you and your families during this difficult time.”

Intel informed its 12,000 employees in Israel – the chip producer has had plants in Israel for decades – that each will receive a $5,000 grant. That comes to $60 million.

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger told employees, “Your commitment to the company and its activities in the present and in the future – from the support you give to your friends who cannot work to the work you give despite the personal consequences you have suffered is something that has not gone unnoticed. This grant is given as a sign of appreciation for that.”

Before Intel made its decision on this matter, Marc Benioff’s company Salesforce, an American cloud-based software company that provides customer relationship management (CRM) services, already pledged to provide a 10,000 Shekel ($2,500) grant to its roughly 700 employees in Israel due to the war in Gaza. This comes to about $1.75 million in total.

The firm will give its Israeli employees who were called up to perform IDF reserve duties 20,000 Shekel each ($5,000). But there is no data available on how many people this will apply to.

The international video and graphics developer Nvidia will also provide its Israeli employees with bonuses but did not reveal how much.

“Your commitment to the company and its activities in the present and in the future – from the support you give to your friends who cannot work to the work you give despite the personal consequences you have suffered – is something that has not gone unnoticed,” wrote Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger in a letter to his firm’s Israeli employees. “This grant is given as a sign of appreciation for that.”

The software company SAP pledged to give 6,500 Shekels ($1600) per family member of every employee it has in Israel who was forced to relocate due to the fighting, whether if from the Gaza area or near the border with Lebanon in Israel’s north. So, people with large families could receive more than $10,000.

All of this will certainly help as Israel’s economy is hurting at this time of war. Several hundred thousand people have been displaced and many have lost family members since the barbaric Hamas terror attack on October 7.

Thousands of Israelis have been placed on temporary unpaid leave as all manner of businesses, including any in the field of entertainment or dining all over the country, have been forced to shutter for an extended time. Many others need to close early and all are losing revenue.

So, Oracle, Intel, Salesforce and the rest are not only making a big contribution by not suspending activities in Israel and actually providing extra money to help their employees in the country. This is in spite of the fact that they are all losing productivity due to the war, even if their offices and factories are far away from the areas that were evacuated.
