Nitrofix and Spiritt Make Small Raises

Nitrofix

Nitrofix co-founders Ophira Melamed and Meital Alon (Nitrofix)

Nitrofix and Spiritt are two new Israeli startups that just made some small raises. Spiritt, which enables the development of complex applications by describing the concept to a computer without the need to write code, extended its Seed funding round to $13.5 million from investors like Square Peg and Disruptive AI, with participation from SVB. The new funding came one year after Spiritt raised $5.5 million.

And Nitrofix, which produces zero-emission ammonia through a novel electrochemical process, raised $3.1 million in a seed funding round led by Clean Energy Ventures, with participation from SOSV, Zero Carbon Capital.

Founded in 2022 by two women, CEO Ophira Melamed and CTO Meital Alon, Nitrofix’s technology, which was developed by Professor Ronny Neumann at the Weizmann Institute of Science, NitroFix developed an innovative production method, which emits Zero CO2. The process is based on an electrochemical reaction and is facilitated by a novel catalyst.

The process uses nitrogen and water as reactants and is performed under ambient conditions with low over-potentials.

Ammonia is the second-largest global chemical product. It is being used mainly for agricultural fertilizers (80%), but also as industrial materials, refrigerants, and additives. Recently, the utilization of ammonia as the energy carrier (secondary energy source) has attracted many interests. The current production method of ammonia emits 1.8% of the total CO2 emission.

Founded in June 2020 by two 24-year-old entrepreneurs, CEO Tamir Magen and President and CTO Or Kliger, Spiritt is an AI platform that lets you build complex apps like Airbnb, Instagram, Pinterest, and many more without any tech skills needed, With an affordable monthly price. This is done by their literal description only, with the help of a conversation with a chatbot reminiscent of a conversation about the idea with a professional.

The SPIRITT platform is developing the app automatically, free of charge or commitment on the part of users, who pay only if they like the result. The payment is a monthly subscription that includes servers, a payment system, mobile and desktop versions, and the option to make unlimited changes to the product. The price of the monthly subscription goes up based on how much you use the app.

“The platform is part of our big vision, to make the world of entrepreneurship accessible to everyone,” said Tamir Magan. “There is a huge audience that until today has never dreamed of entrepreneurship due to the technological barrier. In fact, about 99.7% of the global population does not know how to program. Just imagine how many good ideas we are missing out on.”
