Israel’s “Operation Home and Garden” has come to an end. The only battle fatality suffered by the IDF during the two-day operation came Tuesday night as troops left the city. Master Sergeant David Yehuda Yitzchak of the Egoz infantry unit was killed by gunfire.
The operation was launched before dawn Monday morning against terrorist infrastructure located in the Jenin refugee camp as well as in other parts of the city.
The IDF, together with the Israel Border Police under intelligence gathered by the Shin Bet (General Security Services) located, confiscated, or destroyed thousands of weapons in the area of the refugee camp and the city of Jenin; including explosive devices, different types of ammunition, weapons and laboratories for the making of explosives.

Israel’s Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant commented Tuesday night on Operation Home and Garden against terrorist bases in Jenin.
“In the last two years, Jenin has become a factory for the production of terrorism, in the last two days it has ended,” he said.
“What we are doing now in Jenin and what we did two months ago in Gaza, we will know how to duplicate and copy wherever needed,” added Gallant.
“Anyone who tries to harm Israeli citizens will pay a price – we will reach him, all the way to the bedroom, arrest him and bring him to justice.”
DF Chief Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halev on Operation Home and Garden stated, “Jenin has become a city of refuge for terrorists, especially the refugee camp, and we are stopping this in the operation. Thanks to the fact that we hit the terrorists, we arrested many and destroyed the much of their infrastructure and ordinance, the ordinance that harms both Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers.”
Halevi said that if need be in the future “We will know how to enter where we want, when we need and when we choose.”
“There will be no safe place for terrorists – and whoever escaped today we will make sure to find him tomorrow,” he pledged.
