Cyera, an Israeli startup offering cloud data security, just hit a $500 million valuation, estimates Calcalist. This valuation came after the company raised $100 million in a Series B round of investment led by Accel with participation from existing investors Sequoia and Cyberstarts. Th raise brought the total investment in Cyera to $160 million.
This is a huge leap forward for Cyera, which only came out of stealth a little over a year ago with a $60 million raise. But such growth, even at times of global slowdowns such as these, should come as no surprise because Cyera is a cybersecurity firm and those are always in demand.
Israel Startup Nation is best known for its cyber security firms. Just recently Wiz, the Israeli unicorn that offers an API security platform, released its new WIN Integration (WIN) platform that allows for the integration of cloud bases cybersecurity, offered in cooperation with Wiz’s fellow Israeli unicorns Armis, an Israeli Internet of things IoT startup and API security company Salt Security.

And earlier in June Kodem (Hebrew for before), a brand new Israeli cybersecurity startup founded by former employees of Israel’s controversial cybersecurity firm NSO Group, got off the ground with an $18 million Series A round of funding.
Cyera was co-founded in 2021 by Yotam Segev, CEO, and Tamar Bar-Ilan, CTO. The two met over a decade ago in the Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) elite Talpiot leadership academy and served together in the IDF’s Unit 8200 where they founded, built, and ran the cloud security division. Cyera has already made inroads with multiple Fortune 500 customers and has 50 employees worldwide, including Israel and the US.
Cyera says that its platform can be connected to a company’s cloud footprint in minutes, regardless of the underlying data technologies, and map all datastores in the cloud. From there, Cyera parses and classifies this data (including PII) and then surfaces the highest priority risks for remediation with suggested courses of action.
Where existing ‘cloud security’ solutions merely manage the security posture of cloud infrastructure, Cyera boasts that its service provides visibility, intelligence and actionable insights to remediate potential security risks.
