Famed singer and actress Bette Midler is in a lot of hot water these days over rennet remarks she made about Trans people. Midler complained that women are not treated as such anymore as part of a criticism of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent abortion ruling.
So, what did she do exactly? Well, Bette Midler took the opportunity on the 4th of July – America’s birthday – to go public with a comment on Twitter condemning the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn the Roe v Wade ruling. This decision means that the individual U.S. states are free to pass laws banning abortion.
Bette Midler tweeted, “WOMEN OF THE WORLD! We are being stripped of our rights over our bodies, our lives and even of our name! They don’t call us ‘women’ anymore; they call us ‘birthing people’ or ‘menstruators’, and even ‘people with vaginas’! Don’t let them erase you! Every human on earth owes you!”

O.K. But how is that offensive to transsexuals? Apparently, it was Bette Midler’s criticism of using the term “people with vaginas” that got her in trouble because this is used to refer to transsexual women. Or exclude them as the case may be. But that was not all.
Bette Midler was also criticized for leaving out Transsexual men. Why? Because they were born with vaginas and still have them after they transition. And they can even continue to get pregnant so the abortion issue applies to them as well.
Well, a clearly livid Midler responded to all of the people who criticized what she said, basically calling them dumb and dismissing their complaints.
“I’ve fought for marginalized people for as long as I can remember,” Bette Midler said in a Tweet. “Still, if you want to dismiss my 60 years of proven love and concern over a tweet that accidentally angered the very people I have always supported and adored, so be it. “
“But the truth is,” she added. “Democracy is slipping through our fingers! I’m all in on trying to save Democracy for ALL PEOPLE. We must unite, because, in case you haven’t been paying attention, divided we will definitely fall.”
Bette Midler also tweeted out an official picture of the Supreme Court’s members in which the five men who either voted to limit abortion rights, or overturn Roe v Wade entirely, have been photo shopped to have long beards and headdresses to make them look like members of the Taliban. And the one woman justice who voted against abortion rights is shown in a burka.
