Chelsea Handler Slams Supreme Court Abortion Ruling – ‘I Had 3 Abortions in High School’

Chelsea Handler is guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live this week and on her first appearance Monday night the comedian wasted no time in going after the Supreme Court for its recent decision to overturn the 49 year old Roe v Wade case that established a woman’s right to have an abortion, revealing that she herself has had 3 abortions. For example, slamming those who support banning abortion but oppose gun control, Handler sarcastically commented, “At this point I’d probably have more rights if my vagina was an AR-15.”

Right out of the gate Chelsea Handler made a dig on the court explaining “I’ll be here all week long. Or at least until Republicans make it illegal for women to talk.” As for Jimmy Kimmel, she pointed out how the court’s decision affects only women and not men saying, “Jimmy is off right now doing whatever the [expletive] he wants with his body.”

While Chelsea Handler did retweet someone else’s comments on the matter, the outspoken comic was conspicuously silent for a change, tweeting no comments so far of her own since last Friday’s Supreme Court decision was announced. Perhaps she was saving it all for her stint hosting Kimmel Live.

On the matter of pro-life advocates not caring about how a woman will afford to pay all of her pregnancy related expenses and take care of a baby, or about gun control to save lives, Chelsea Handler said that they are concerned with life, “Just as long as that life doesn’t need baby formula, affordable health care or a place to learn without getting shot.”

“By the way, Kevin McCarthy, since you mentioned it, let’s talk about what it means to be pro-life,” said Chelsea Handler addressing directly the Republican Majority Leader in the U.S. House of representatives. She then listed a number of other things that she said were also pro-life, but that the Republican Party opposes.

“Universal health care, that’s pro-life. Restricting guns, that’s also pro-life. Fighting climate change, that’s also pro-life. Listening to doctors during a pandemic, also pro-life. Not forcing women to give birth like livestock: pro-life. But your party opposes all of those things.”

And then Chelsea Handler got personal: “And by the way, I’m speaking from experience on all of this as someone who had three abortions in high school. And if that sounds too extreme, let’s pretend I had two. Because here’s the thing: This planet is a much safer place without me polluting it with my children. I’m responsible enough to know that we don’t need any more pothead molly-loving alcoholics running around topless.”
