Yes, Lab-grown diamonds are a thing. And Israeli company Lusix makes them. Lusix brought in $45 million in funding led by Israeli funds Ragnar and More Investment House. Israeli entrepreneur and inventor Benny Landa is behind the company.

Lab-grown diamonds, also known as synthetic diamonds, are diamonds produced by a manufacturing process, as contrasted with natural diamonds created by geological processes and extracted by mining. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically and physically no different from natural diamonds. But are they also a girl’s best friend?

Many people argue that diamonds don’t really have any intrinsic value, that they are just shiny rocks whose world supply is kept artificially low. That slick advertisers made them something romantic, something to show off or to give someone to show that you really love them. And the tradition of giving diamond engagement rings only goes back about a century and was started from a marketing campaign. So, why not use fake diamonds, or lab-grown diamonds instead? Who really cares anyway?

Founded in 2016 from the Landa Group and based in Modi’in, Lusix boasts that it is a prime grower of lab-grown diamonds committed to supplying affordable luxury to environmentally and socially aware consumers. The Landa group was founded by Benny Landa about a decade ago. It was while working at Landa Labs that Lusix co-founder and CTO, Dr. Yossi Yayon, developed the company’s technology for growing diamonds.

“This investment will further accelerate Lusix’s growth, in line with the exploding demand for premium lab-grown diamonds Lusix is experiencing,” Lusix said. “This is another milestone on Lusix’s growth path.”

Lusix boasts a cutting edge R&D team and a vertically integrated and advanced automated facility. The lab grown diamond firm declares that it is committed to disrupting the diamond industry with leading technology and superior products. Its proprietary “Special Growing Process” has been perfected over the past 8 years.

“Our lab-grown diamonds — all graded by top gemological institutes — are grown with the world’s most scientifically advanced technology. We use equipment and processes developed exclusively by our own scientists and engineers to create cultured treasures of stunning clarity and perfection.”
